Happy Mother's Day!!

As I look at my children and how blessed I am that God chose me to be their mother I can't help but think of the birth mothers who have given so much to make people like me a mom. Not only my precious Silas' birthmom but the birth mom of our daughter. My heart is heavy for her as I think about the life changing desicion she will make to give her child up for adoption. That in her pain she will make me a mother for the fifth time.

As a type A personality with a list as long as my arm on any given day I'm reminded that my children are growing up all to quickly before my very eyes. I want to make the most of each moment, create memories to last a lifetime, and inpress on their hearts the things that are most important. To love the Lord, love eachother, and Give much. I found one of my all time favorite poems online, I'll share it here. I had no idea it was titled "Song For a Fifth Child".

Song for a Fifth Child
by Ruth Hulburt Hamilton

Mother, oh Mother, come shake out your cloth,
Empty the dustpan, poison the moth,
Hang out the washing and butter the bread,
Sew on a button and make up a bed.
Where is the mother whose house is so shocking?
She’s up in the nursery, blissfully rocking.
Oh, I’ve grown shiftless as Little Boy Blue
(Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).
Dishes are waiting and bills are past due
(Pat-a-cake, darling, and peek, peekaboo).
The shopping’s not done and there’s nothing for stew
And out in the yard there’s a hullabaloo
But I’m playing Kanga and this is my Roo.
Look! Aren’t her eyes the most wonderful hue?
(Lullaby, rockaby, lullaby loo).

The cleaning and scrubbing will wait till tomorrow,
For children grow up, as I’ve learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down, cobwebs. Dust go to sleep.
I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep.

Mother's day can be so bittersweet! Full of hope and joy, mingled with sadness and loss. You are leaving the very legacy you long to--you're a great mom!!

LOVE the poem! Haven't done much rockin' lately, but I bet I will again soon...: )
