Time flies when you're having fun. Yes even in the often difficult adjustment phase we're having fun with our little gal. God in His faithfulness has given us this precious little life to nurture, love and care for, she is pure joy. I wouldn't say its easy because its all still new, we're in the "honeymoon phase" yet but we're seeing little bits of Zahra's sweet personality every day. Yes, she's quiet but she stands up for what she views as injustice done against her. (ie: not getting her way, not being first, not having ALL the toys)
Little Z fits right in here at the Shubin casa. I hesitate to say everything is perfect but it really is going quite smooth. We have little pockets of struggle but nothing major, I can't say its anything more then typical four year old behavior. Add in a sprinkling of new everything and a language barrier and absolutely everything we're experiencing is normal.
Some of the things we've done to ensure this crucial time of "cocooning" does what it is supposed to do is shrinking our circles. We spend a lot of time as a family, we do lots of fun things, we hang out at home a lot, but we do get out. Zahra goes on dates with daddy to the grocery store, she goes to Target with mommy, we did go to the park with some friends and we did go to Easter service on the beach. Everyone has been so incredibly respectful of our space, respectful of what we've asked in regards to this phase of our journey with Zahra. We are so grateful for your understanding. Soon we'll be back to normal, or our new normal as a family of seven and we can't wait to reconnect with all of our friends. Oh and family too since we are STOKED to have Davids brother and his wife here in a few weeks!
Several have asked.....in respect to our time as a family if I'm working......but YES I'm back to work! I actually never really stopped working, I worked the whole time we were in Addis - albeit a bit modified. I'm back in full swing, I'm busy arranging travel for mission trips, adoption travel, and just about any other travel you could come up with. I love what I do, I love serving my clients, and I'm completely honored to be able to help in this way. This is busy season and I'm fully embracing it! There is great beauty in working from home!
Oh and something HUGE will be posted right here on my blog on Monday - you won't want to miss it - YOU will get to be involved and I promise, it's going to be monumental, life changing, amazing, and unforgettable.
So stay tuned!
