14:6 - Birthday Crazy & A Not Quite Storm.

This past week has been crazy, I've tried to slow down but life just seems to move at top speed and I can barely keep up.  Last week my oldest son started high school and turned 14 in a span of 3 days.  David and I looked at each other and asked if it felt like he'd grown up over night?  Yes.  That's exactly how it felt.  I love this kid and time flies WAY too fast.

This time last year.....

And last week.....

So really I'm fairly sure all of my kids were just babies last month and this week it seems they've all grown up and gone to school.  :(

Last night I tucked my five year old into bed for the last time.  This morning I woke up to a cheerful, confident, happy six year old.  She'll never be five again.  She'll never go to bed without being tucked in, she'll never celebrate a birthday without a family.  She'll never wonder who will sing to her, she'll never not have a surprise birthday breakfast of doughnuts from her daddy, she'll NEVER wonder if she's wanted or celebrated or delighted in.  This precious baby girl KNOWS she's ours and we are hers FOREVER and ALWAYS.  Amen.  It levels me to tears to think otherwise.  To think we could have missed this if we didn't listen to the words of God our Father.  If we didn't hear and ACT.  If we didn't say YES.  David and I are so honored and blessed to be her forever Mommy and Daddy.  Zahra Belaynesh Reign - WE LOVE YOU!

Last August with my girl....

This morning....

In other news...

School was canceled yesterday due to "Hurricane Issac" and we got about 100 raindrops.  Yep.  Sure glad they did that.  The school called 14 times yesterday to let us know that school WOULD resume today.  Phew.  Glad they let me know 'cause I was worried.

We were spared the wrath of Issac, now we wait and pray for our friends up North as they brace for the storm.

This weekend we have friends coming from Cali to visit - I'm excited but I'm also a bit nervous for them.  :)  Do they realize we have FIVE kids and there's never a dull moment around here?  No really.  Seriously.  Two teenagers, a tween, and two VERY competitive littles it gets a little nutty!  Dave and Dana....you've been warned.  ;)

Recently Silas and Zahra have been debating who was taller. We had to settle this because there was an argument brewin' over the subject.  Zahra has some seriously big hair which gives her an "edge" according to Silas.  Thankfully Daddy came to the rescue and the verdict is in.  They are both the exact same height. (yes, that's correct, in just 16 months Zahra has grown 10.5 inches! For reference in 4.5 years Silas has grown 14.5 inches)  Silas has ramped up his protein shake intake and they've both informed us they'll be sleeping more so they can grow.  AWESOME.  We like this plan!

I'm trying to be a bit better about blogging.....I'm working on a few posts about attachment/hair/teenagers/etc in no particular order.  :)  Have a great week all!
