A Few Of My Favorite Things....

Christmas is my favorite holiday, hands down. December is upon us and this month marks a whole bunch of special dates for us. Its going to hold many more as our friends bring their daughter home from Ethiopia on Christmas Day. This post is not in any sort of order - its a bit random actually.

Traditions.

There are many family traditions and I love when the kids talk about them and look forward to them. It melts my heart and I hope they never forget them. Not for traditions sake but for the time spent as a family. Time spent reflecting on what the REAL reason for the season is. Olivia reminded me that last year we didn't bake our Happy Birthday Cake for Jesus - we meant to it just didn't happen as we'd planned and she didn't like my substitution of brownies for Jesus. This year we'll stick with tradition and bake the cake.

Starbucks Christmas Blend.

Yes, its shallow but its true. I look forward to it every year. In fact today you can buy one pound and get one free. I also look forward to selecting which Starbucks coffee mugs I'll add to my collection.

Toms Shoes.

I love getting my Toms update emails one pair for me, one for someone else - giving back - this years favorites are the wedges. I want them for Christmas. Size 10 please.

Photography.

I recently did our family pictures and then this past weekend I did some friends pictures as well. I love being able to freeze a moment in time. Capture a memory, a stage of life. Its a hobby. It brings me great joy and is a bit therapeutic.

This guy.

I'm so blessed to be able to spend my life with him. Not everyone gets to marry their best friend. For that I'm grateful.

#28

Cause that's our current number on the wait list for our girl. :)

FashionABLE

Cause I love the people of Ethiopia, products that give back, and I need all the fashion help I can get! I love these scarves! The story is incredible, beautiful scarves that give HOPE to the women of Ethiopia. I bought this one below. Check them out here.Depraved Indifference.

I'm not sure I'd say a favorite in the warm fuzzy way we generally classify favorites but this is a favorite in the challenging, cried my eyes out, must do more kind of way.

Project Hopeful

This is a great cause! Raising awareness about HIV/AIDS, a family uniting families, advocating for kids, and urging others to do the same. PLUS you can buy SUPER cool stuff in their store while supporting a great cause! Also in case you missed the Twietmeyers segment on CBS last night check out the link below.

Dark Chocolate.

The darker the better. Yes please.

Adoption Wear.

Yes, I have a lot. I love it. You should too. Our shirt sales are a HUGE part in what has provided for this adoption. Check out the Mullins blog they have cute shirts/sweatshirts and are working to bring their twins home.

Thats all for now......what are a few of your favorite things?! Leave me a comment and let me know!

Oh! That first video has left me in a puddle. I guess our concrete walls are applications and paper work, fundraising and meticulous budgeting, shots and luggage. Truly an encouraging message to keep going - It's worth it!

We have a lot of favorite things in common! I JUST did a post on family traditions and why I do them. Also a good book that has helped us keep the "true" meaning of many holidays--like Christmas, Valentines, St. Patrick's day, etc..
