Raising a Ransom.

I was reading my friend Tracie's blog yesterday and I had an "ah ha" moment at her use of the word ransom. It struck me because with every adoption there is a ransom that MUST be paid in order to move forward and in order to actually get your child. Whether that be time, energy, and preparation for an adoption out of the foster care system, cash paid for legal fees and the care of a birth mother for a domestic adoption, or fees/cash paid to various offices in order to complete an international adoption. It doesn't matter there are certain requirements that MUST be met in order to move forward.
Just as Christ paid our ransom in order to be called His. He had to sacrifice His life on the cross in order to set us free from bondage. He did that for me. He did that for you.
For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. Mark 10:45

I look at the ransom set before us in order to bring our daughter home and it's a sacrifice. A sacrifice of our time and resources yet NOTHING will deter me from fighting to bring this little girl home. This is a ransom for a life. A LIFE. There is no other way to put it. She is worth it. We will continue to fight and to push forward and to ask that others partner with us, fight with us, and invest in the life of our daughter. It's a unique opportunity to be able to participate in that. I love helping others fund raise for their adoptions, I love being able to participate even if its only a few bucks. Every little bit adds up.

Yesterday I watched as Tracie put it out there that the Spier family needed $14.5k in 24 hours. That's a HUGE amount of money. As of right now (an hour before they meet their boy) they have $7624 donated. I posted about this need on my facebook and one friend made a comment that I loved. "I can't adopt today but I can certainly donate $15 so someone else can." So so true.

Adoption Costs Broken Down.

(because we all know its daunting to look at raising $25,000)
1000 people giving $25 is an adoption paid for.
500 people giving $50 is an adoption paid for.
100 people giving $250 is an adoption paid for.
40 people giving $50 a month for a year to a family pays for an adoption.

Pretty amazing when you think about.

I have been following along, such an amazing story! I love how the body rallies around and supports each other in times like these.

So so true. We will continue to support you guys both in prayer and financially as you take this journey. So inspirational and sacrificial and the miracle of life, from a different view... may the Light keep shining on your path.

Love this! I am amazed at how the funds have came in for this family and pray it happens for your family just the same. It is cool to see the breakdown of how easy it would be for famlies adopting if everyone gave a little. I think we should start a new club. Try to get 100 people to donate $250 monthly, that way a family's adoption is paid for every month. I think that would be far more rewarding then paying that amount in a car payment, dont you? Just an idea. :) Matthew 6:21 "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also"
