Radical.

Have you ever felt like people look at you as if you're border line crazy? We get it more often then I'd like. I think the worst is when people I know and love don't say anything at all and I know they just think we're nuts. Whether its moving to another state, across the country, or adopting our fifth child there will always be someone who doesn't agree with us. Good thing its not about us!!

It took me a long time to be "okay" with that. I'm not saying it's easy and it doesn't hurt when things aren't said or when people say things that are hurtful but I have learned to let more go and trust that I'm doing what God has called me to do. Living my life with a Reckless Abandon for Him is much more where I want to be then in my own comfort zone even if it's harder.

A few months back I started listening to David Platts Radical Series and somewhere in there I started feeling even more convicted about what more I could do for others. I love this no fuss straight to the point teaching of the gospel and how our lives need to show ACTION in caring for the least of these. How my life needs to show what I say I believe.

This May Davids new book is going to be released and I'll be on the pre-order list for sure. I'm so glad he's taken his Radical series and put it in book form. You really should listen to the series and buy the book! It'll be life changing.

Here's an excerpt from the book:

This brings us to the crucial question for every professing or potential follower of Jesus: Do we really believe he is worth abandoning everything for? Do you and I really believe that Jesus is so good, so satisfying, and so rewarding that we will leave all we have and all we own and all we are in order to find our fullness in him?

Do you and I believe him enough to obey him and to follow him wherever he leads, even when the crowds in our culture—and maybe in our churches—turn the other way?

I'm so glad that you shared this...I will be checking into it. It has been hard, and by far the hardest for me has been our oldest son. I know he loves us, but he thinks we are crazy and doesn't understand (he is 20 and lives in Texas).
Thanks again,
loves,
Shonni

thank you so much for posting this!! I've been struggling with this for awhile now. Not very many family members are excited about our adoption (or several other sacrifices we've made because the Lord has called us)... I have a hard time being okay with that, too. I'm a people pleaser by nature -- but my heart is a God pleaser. I'm working on not worrying about other people's opinions and just following Him with an unburdened heart!

I really want to read that book now!

We have listened to that series as well and my husband is going through the study with a group. It's so good! And, we're on the pre-order list also. Totally agree with you.

Glad you shared this...I can take comments from strangers, but the silence and/or negative comments from friends or family members - and especially those who are sisers or brothers in Christ - are tough. I've been struggling with this same thing over this last week in particular. Thanks for this reminder to, as Colossians 3:2 says, "Set your mind on things above, not on earthly things."

Thanks for sharing this. I've been dealing with the same thing, especially over the past week. It's extra hard when the silences/comments come from those who are also brothers and sisters in Christ, isn't it? Thanks for the reminder to, as Colossians 3:2 says, "Set your mind on things above, not on earthly things."
