Science Lesson: Baby Tarantula.

When my eldest son came running in to tell me he saw the BIGGEST spider he'd ever seen in his life I really didn't think much of it. I mean seriously, he's only 9 it can't be that big. Or could it? I continued cleaning as he explained the coloring, the spots, the large legs. When he said something about hair and how he was going to tell his dad my ears perked. When David yelled CAMERA - I knew it must be good. Even this mama who once had a black scorpion, lizards, and various other creepy crawlies as a teen......this thing gave me a full body shudder. And yes, I have out grown my love for these lovely things and actually detest the creatures now. I don't think words will do justice for the pictures we got of this amazing, nasty, icky, but relatively intriguing creature. We even video taped it. I know I know. But the kids loved it! It wasn't until later that we found out it was a baby tarantula. Our find...in pictures.........

And the video. Please excuse the chatter in the background. Multitasking, National Geographic discussion, school science fair......

Ewwww ewww ewww ewww EWWWWWW!!

Okay, maybe it is better to live where it's winter 1/2 the year than to live where those big ugly things are just out crawlin' around.

:full body shudder:

I can't believe you took pictures and video of this nasty creature. I would have locked myself in the house until Brian got rid of it.

Ewwww! No, please, no! Tell me it isn't so! I'm stealing your video to show everyone the dangerous place we live in. And did I catch someone singing "It's a Small World" in the background??

I was so excited seeing the pictures and then I got sad when I saw that he was killed. :(

I realize lots of people don't like spiders/tarantulas-but, they eat bugs!
Oh well.

Thanks for sharing the first few photos anyhow! ha.
