Idol Gives Back

Last year I posted about Idol Gives back here on our adoption blog. Just three days after we'd been accepted into the Ethiopia program at Children's Hope. I remember feeling so broken from watching the show. I bawled. Like a baby. The kids were asking a bunch of questions. Sweet friends called to see if I'd watched it and if I was okay. It made David and I think so much about our son, such a deep desire to do more and a true love for orphans everywhere.

This year Fox is doing it again! I urge each of you to watch the show. This time one of the places they visit is Ethiopia and of course our hearts are already there. We've seen the poverty, we've experienced the beauty of this country and our desire to do more is even stronger this year.

Thank you Fox and the other sponsors!
Please check it out Wednesday April 9th - 6:30pm on Fox!
It will move you and inspire you. Join us in watching this year.

Here's a preview for the 2008 Idol Gives Back.

I'm recording it right now. I totally remember last year's. We had just received our 171-H and were getting ready to send our dossier off to Ethiopia, so it hit home and made me feel like we were playing such a small part, but glad there were others doing there part as well.

Erica - we watched some of this last night. It really tugged at my heart, to say the least. Normally I try to block all of that out because it is so heart wrenching. Watching your journey with Silas and actually seeing and meeting your little boy made it all so real to me. I have a new compassion for all of those kids. Thank you for sharing your journey and opening the eyes of us who otherwise wouldn't take notice. Thanks for encouraging us to watch, too. Seeing their lives makes our struggles seem very insignificant and trivial. Thank you for being faithful to God and reaching out to the life of one very special little boy.
